In a 3.0 L twin-turbo V6 form. You will also get 350 pound-feet of torque. Neat!
Autoblog just posted this and a few other outlets are reporting it as well. Gone is the VQ engine and in its place is this new VR (virtual reality?) mill. Apparently Nissan’s partnership with Daimler had nothing to do with this new engine, but Infiniti will be grabbing a Merc 2.0 L turbo’d four-cylinder to put in the base model.

The VQ was a great naturally aspirated engine. As Freddie Mercury would put it, another one bites the dust. So long, VQ!

VR is an evolution of the VQ. has been in the R35 GT-R since the start.

But in the GTR it’s a 3.8 L. It’d be cool if most of the tech from that one gets trickled down to this smaller engine.

its basicly the same engine, just in a smaller size.
same way the VQ was (more or less) the same between the 3.5 version and the 3.7 version.

They’re really not that similar. I would be extremely surprised if valve sizes, main bearings, alloy specifications, cam sizes, or almost any actual parts are shared between them. They’re both 60 degree DOHC V6s around the same displacement, but that’s it. They’re not even the same block.

Totally different engines, very different blocks. Some of the top-end stuff with the turbochargers might make it into the VQ line, but I doubt it.
